Amore ~ Camille and Pierre’s Sneak Peek

Posted on Oct 23, 2011 at 5:20 pm by · No Comments

Camille and Pierre were married yesterday in a beautiful ceremony at their church in Ottawa. The day was perfect and although it was a little chilly, Camille and Pierre braved the cold for some beautiful portraits among the flowers at the ornamental gardens in the experimental farm.

Camille and Pierre, it was truly an honour to capture your day, and your obvious love for each other.

If this isn’t love, I don’t know what is…

Camille and I both adore weeping willow trees so we had to include this one that is on their church grounds for a shot (left).

Their wedding colour was purple and we were lucky enough to discover these beautiful purple flowers still in bloom!

Simply Splendid

Posted on May 7, 2011 at 3:46 pm by · 2 Comments

When you start to plan your wedding it can get overwhelming. Even the sheer list of things to do can leave you wanting to run for the hills. Where to start? How to put it together? Should we just elope? haha.

I know when I got married, I was asking myself these same questions. Thankfully, there are many talented people in Ottawa who you can go to and get all of these questions answered, and even taken care of for you!

Last week I had the opportunity to photograph the lovely Amy, who is a wedding planner and is the genius behind, Splendid Events. She is one talented lady with such attention to detail that you will be completely taken care of.

Amy loves her hubby, her two cats and is one of the warmest, bubbliest people I’ve ever met.

Be sure to notice Amy’s amazing fascinator, which is made by Flights of Fancy in Ottawa! It’s so wonderful to hear about such great talent in our beautiful city.

Sweetness in the Shape of Love

Posted on Feb 26, 2011 at 8:38 pm by · 6 Comments

One of the most iconic things about Ottawa is the Rideau Canal. Every year Thomas and I vow to go skating on it, and pretty much every year, the season comes and goes and we miss it. This year, although I didn’t skate myself, I did go ON the canal.

Natasha and Dom have been together for 10 years and are two of the most wonderful people you will ever meet. They love zombies, scary movies, Eastbound and Down, The Space Channel, their dogs and each other (of course).

Natasha and Dom are getting married this year and when I suggested doing their engagement session on skates they were pretty excited about it. Natasha was a bit nervous about falling, but she did great – none of us fell once! Go team! I wore Thomas’ YakTrax and they were amazing. I was a bit nervous about wiping out with all of my equipment, but even on the frozen canal, I felt sure footed the entire time.

Before moving to Ottawa I had no idea what a BeaverTail was. I grew up in Toronto and for some reason, the people in Ottawa seem to think that BeaverTails are a Canadian thing, but they are not, they are definitely an Ottawa thing…a delicious and delectable Ottawa thing. For all of you who are also not from Ottawa and have a confused look on your face, a BeaverTail is a deep fried doughy pastry that is covered in cinnamon and sugar and topped with overall deliciousness. If you haven’t tried one, you really should!! There are several flavours to get your tastebuds watering.

Once I knew our location was going to be the canal, I knew I wanted to include the BeaverTail stand in the shots. We asked the wonderful gentleman working there if he would be able to make the BeaverTail in the shape of a heart and boy did he ever deliver!! I was so impressed!! We got some fantastic shots and then…we ate it! Yum.

We stayed out until the sun went down and did some pretty rad night shots and then to wrap everything up in a scrumptious bow, we all went out to dinner at Vittoria Trattoria in the market! All in all, it was a wonderful evening. Vittoria Trattoria is one of my favourite restaurants. Go there and order the Tortellini Gorgonzola – you will not regret it, I promise.

Thank you Nat and Dom for braving the cold and I hope you love your images as much as I do!

Happiness Walks on Busy Feet

Posted on Jun 1, 2010 at 11:30 am by · No Comments

I am happiest when I am busy, hence the blog title of this post. As the weather gets warmer (recently: a lot warmer!!) and as our wedding season kicks into high gear, our blogging will become a little less frequent. We are busy and I am loving it!

Don’t worry, we will still be blogging all of our sessions, but they may come at you all at once instead of nicely spaced apart. I have quite a few sessions that need to be blogged so those will be going live in the next week or so, including a funtastic shoot I did with Jane a few weeks ago!

Since posts are just plain boring without a photo, here is one from a wedding reception I photographed last weekend. Disclaimer: objects in photo may appear larger than actual size. ;)

A bee is never as busy as it seems; it’s just that it can’t buzz any slower.
