Part one: Puppies
Posted on May 21, 2011 at 3:08 pm by Liz · 1 CommentThere is nothing I adore more than a couple in love with each other, and their pets!
Genevieve and James brought their three dogs, Milo, Belle and Parker to their engagement sessions and we had such a great time. I am going to break this post into two, because I want to feature one with just their dogs, and the other with just the two of them – because that’s how I roll.
Up first are the puppies (who are not really puppies anymore, but I still call them that)
I just love this shot, I love how random it is with everything going on.

The Glebe is so beautiful.

Milo is a rock-star and demanded his own closeup.

And another of sweet Milo.

The beautiful Belle.

The handsome Parker.

This is one of my favourite shots and I think it’s because of the way Belle is standing. She looks so elegant!

Again, check out how Belle is standing. This one is less elegant and more…well just funny!

Parker wanted the treats.

Milo got pretty tuckered out by the end of the session.

Check back soon for part two of this post!
Have a wonderful day,

Love in the Glebe ~ Genevieve and James’ Engagement Sneak Peek
Posted on May 8, 2011 at 7:25 pm by Liz · 4 CommentsSpring has sprung and I am back at it in full force with many engagement and pet sessions booked for May.
Yesterday I got to spend some time with Genevieve and James in the Glebe for their engagement session. These two are the kind of people you want in your life – they are both incredibly sweet and genuine and are so in love. They exude happiness and I couldn’t help but get caught up in the giggles.
I usually only post one portrait for the sneak peek blog posts, but I had to break my rule for this one because I wanted to make sure to include an oh-so-darling family portrait with Genevieve and James’ furkids. They are beyond adorable and I just love it when couples include their pets into their engagement sessions – I actually encourage it.

Meet Parker, Milo and Belle. How cute is their furry family??

Genevieve and James – thank you for remembering to bring your “special” dog treats and I can’t wait until your beautiful August wedding!
Have a wonderful day,

Posted on Oct 18, 2010 at 10:00 am by Liz · 1 CommentI had a great time with Amber and Darrel at their engagement session last night. Here is a quick sneak peek for them. Amber and Darrel are getting married next year in Ottawa and wanted their engagement photos to have the same fall colours as their wedding photos.
Lots and lots more coming soon! Including a little Tiffany!!! (think beautiful engagement ring)

The time to relax is when you don’t have time for it
Posted on Aug 27, 2010 at 3:00 pm by Liz · 2 CommentsIf I think back to the weeks leading up to Thomas and my wedding last year, I remember it going fast…really fast. To be honest it’s all just a blur, that time before our wedding – I can’t really remember specifics, only a feeling.
Even though our wedding was really small, there were still lots of details and things that needed our attention. At some point I realized that we hadn’t actually spent any real quality time with just the two of us in months.
We are both busy people, but we always make a point to connect with each other and spend some time for just the two of us and somehow that got lost in all of the planning. I’m sure it happens to everyone, but it just caught me off guard.
We decided we needed to do something that would relax us, but also allow us to spend time together – and with no talk about the wedding! Our solution was easy: Le Nordik! It’s relaxing and you’re not supposed to talk in the baths area – so that covered off the not talking about the wedding part!

photo from Le Nordik’s website
Le Nordik is a Finnish style spa in nature in Chelsea, Quebec. We had been a few times before and thought it would be perfect.
From Le Nordik’s website:
This relaxation technique is certainly not new; it dates back as far as two thousand years and it originated in Finland.
The concept requires alternating hot, cold and relaxation periods.
First warm up your body by taking a Finnish sauna or steam bath for 10 to 15 minutes; this will open up your pores and toxins can be evacuated through sweat. Then, quickly cool off by submerging yourself under the Nordic waterfall or in one of our cold or temperate pools; this step will help rinse off toxins and tighten up the pores of your skin. Finally, complete the process with a calming period by sitting peacefully for another 10 to 15 minutes in one of our indoor or outdoor relaxation areas. This step will allow your system to find its normal rhythm.
We spent the entire Saturday there the week before the wedding. We even had a great lunch (for such a reasonable price too!) and reconnected and relaxed – it was exactly what both of us needed. We headed into the week before our wedding relaxed and excited!
So now I pass on this wisdom to everyone getting married out there. Don’t overlook time for each other and remember why this great celebration is happening. It’s because you are perfect for each other and love spending time together, just the two of you.
On a side note, you don’t have to be getting married to enjoy Le Nordik!! If I won the lottery I’d buy a season’s pass – I don’t even know if something like that is even available! haha. It’s so relaxing and amazing. If you’d really like to splurge for ultimate relaxation, have a massage! The massage therapists at Le Nordik are registered and you can get a receipt to claim through your insurance as well. Note though that if you are pregnant, they don’t recommend the baths or the massages.
….and now I want to go to Le Nordik again! haha.
Do you have any tips for how to reconnect and relax before a wedding?
Have a wonderful day,

Happiness Walks on Busy Feet
Posted on Jun 1, 2010 at 11:30 am by Liz · No CommentsI am happiest when I am busy, hence the blog title of this post. As the weather gets warmer (recently: a lot warmer!!) and as our wedding season kicks into high gear, our blogging will become a little less frequent. We are busy and I am loving it!
Don’t worry, we will still be blogging all of our sessions, but they may come at you all at once instead of nicely spaced apart. I have quite a few sessions that need to be blogged so those will be going live in the next week or so, including a funtastic shoot I did with Jane a few weeks ago!
Since posts are just plain boring without a photo, here is one from a wedding reception I photographed last weekend. Disclaimer: objects in photo may appear larger than actual size.

A bee is never as busy as it seems; it’s just that it can’t buzz any slower.
Have a wonderful day,
