In dreams and in love there are no impossibilities
Posted on Jul 18, 2010 at 2:15 pm by Liz · 7 CommentsI still remember the day that Katie told me that Mathieu had proposed. I was recently engaged myself and she and I had been talking about how she and Matt were thinking about getting married. She came to see me and didn’t even need to tell me – I immediately spotted her infectious grin and her beautiful engagement ring.
I’ve known Katie for about three years now and funnily enough our lives paralleled in some pretty big milestones throughout the time we’ve known each other. We both bought our first homes within weeks of each other and we also got engaged around the same time as well. When Katie purchased her first home, she was single and loving it. Purchasing that home forever changed her life. Living next door was a strapping young man who would come over and help her fix things around the house. He would find any excuse to come over and see her. If you haven’t guessed it by now, this was Mathieu. Eventually he would move out of his house and move next door in with Katie and on June 19th, 2010, they stood in front of each other and promised to love one another forever.
Katie and Matt’s wedding was beautiful. It was one of the hottest days in June and it thunderstormed ALL morning. Nothing could get Katie’s spirits down though and she really did have nothing to worry about because by the time we came to take photos outside, it had completely cleared up. They got the best of both worlds; rain for luck, and sunny for their photos!
These two have such love for each other and it is so evident to everyone who knows them. They recently bought a farm and their honeymoon was spent installing electric fences and lots and LOTS of planting. Both are very in tune with the environment and you can see that even in their wedding colours: green!
Thank you Katie and Mathieu for letting me photograph your love, and your day. I hope you love your photos as much as I do!

My peace of mind was courtesy of my awesome bridesmaids & my mom, Day of event co-ordinator, Linda, and the blog apracticalwedding.com where I’ve been reading for over a year about how I should let all the details go on the day of the wedding and just be in the moment. Apparently it worked!

Wedding Resources ~ Best Blogs for Brides, Ottawa Wedding Photography
Posted on Dec 27, 2009 at 10:00 am by Liz · 2 CommentsThere are so many things for a bride to think about before the wedding and I know before I got married I wanted to look at many many websites for ideas and inspiration.
I have compiled a list of my favourites, and ones that helped me before my own wedding last summer.
The Wedding Chicks *a personal fave* ~ weddingchicks.com
I love this website – lots of really amazing ideas and always has great resources, even for Canadians! I also ordered shirts from them for my wedding; one that said Bride and the other said Maid of Honour. Too cute!
Weddingbells Blog ~ weddingbells.ca/blogs
The Weddingbells Blog (and website) is great because it’s 100% Canadian – gotta love that! Offices are based out of Toronto so if there’s something you must have that they feature, it’s only a shortish drive away. This blog/website is the companion to the Weddingbells Magazine (also a great resource).
Weddingbee ~ weddingbee.com
Weddingbee is great because it’s blog posts done by either real life brides/couples or wedding vendors. Lots of great insight and info on here and I spent hours pouring over this blog when I first found it.
The Bride’s Cafe ~ thebridescafe.com
Beautiful blog with lots of inspiration. Only downfall is there is no Canadian content on it.
Kiss the Groom ~ kissthegroom.com
Kiss the Groom is a blog told in beautiful photos. Some stunning imagery on it.
100 Layer Cake ~ 100layercake.com/blog
100 Layer Cake is a mix of DIY, real weddings, style and inspiration.
Not blogs, but very helpful
Wedding Wire ~ weddingwire.com
This was easily the most helpful website I found and used before we got married. It has everything you need to plan your day and keep it organized, and for an organization-freak like me, it was perfect! Don’t let the .com extension fool you though, this website has A TON of Canadian content and vendors and if your vendors aren’t in their system, you can add them in!
Stephanie James Couture ~ stephaniejamescouture.com
Stephanie James is a designer in the US and I just fell completely and utterly in LOVE with her dresses. If I wasn’t lucky enough to have my wonderful Mother custom make my wedding dress, I would have sought out a Stephanie James dress. I don’t believe they sell them in Ottawa, but Sash and Bustle in Toronto does.
iDiY ~ i-do-it-yourself.com/
iDiY is a great resource for the bride who wants to add some personal hand-made touches to her wedding. There are many projects and ideas on this blog, and some are not even for weddings!
If you have any wedding blogs you love – leave it in the comments!
