It’s not every day that you meet a couple who wants to do their portraits in the winter – but Jen and Dan aren’t your regular couple. These two are such wonderful people and Jen and I talked about a winter engagement session at our very first meeting at our wedding consultation!

Needless to say, yesterday was a very cold day in Ottawa but these two were such troopers. We began at the Bank of Canada and then headed out around downtown Ottawa and the Supreme Court of Canada for some hot chocolate and a pseudo picnic in the snow!

Jen and Dan – thank you for freezing your toes off and getting covered in snow. I had such a blast with you and I hope you did as well!

Hilary and Phil are an adventurous pair. The one thing they wanted for their engagement session was snow – and they got it! We met at Phiney’s Point a few months ago and it was a perfect, albeit cold day for their engagement portraits. They put up with me as I asked them to dance to the music in their heads, and hold hands…a lot. haha.

These two are such an awesome pair and I am very excited to be photographing their wedding in June. Until then, check out their snowy engagement portraits.

This is not a story of love at first sight, but a love grown through words. Rhonda and Anthony lived miles apart, she, in Calgary, Alberta and he, in Cornwall, Ontario, but they found each other, and found love.

They fell in love before they met, and they knew they wanted to spend their lives together mere days after meeting for the first time.

This isn’t a classic love story, it is a new kind of love story where distance doesn’t matter and the heart pulls you in directions you never thought possible.

On their wedding day, Rhonda asked Anthony how he was doing, and he replied “I am happy. I am so happy”

These two warmed my heart from the moment I met them. Thank you so much for allowing my into your lives to capture such a special day.

I’d also like to mention how brave these two were in the cold. It was about -5 degrees and they were climbing over snowbanks and traipsing through snow, and they never complained about the cold once! Definitely some brave souls here!

This is the first of two sessions that the Clermont family have booked. This one was the winter wonderland portion where we went for a walk a the Watson’s Mill in Manotick. It was quite a cold day and the kiddos did quite well!

Finnigan, their dog, joined us for the session – he is a labradoodle and is beyond adorable. So scruffy and so cute.

We found some leaves still hanging around on the ground so we had to make sure to play with them!

I just love little kids in snowsuits – they can barely move and it’s just too adorable.

Walking in a winter wonderland! I know it’s cheesy, but it fits!

I was lucky enough to spend today with an amazing couple who were married under a gazebo overlooking the lake, in the snow.

It was the quintessential winter wedding, and it was beautiful.

I had such a fun wintery session with two amazing old souls: Buck and Earl. They are both 12 years young and are chalk full of personality! Buck is large for a boxer, but he doesn’t let that stop him. He’s been the apple of his Mom’s eye ever since he came into her life at 8 weeks old. Earl is a dignified Boston Terrier who lets everyone know who is boss (him obviously!). These two keep their adoring humans on their toes, but also know how to have a good snuggle.

Buck and Earl are the best of friends and have such an incredible bond with both of their humans and I wanted to capture as many moments and memories as I could. There are far too many photos to choose from, but I did my best.

Despite their age, Buck and Earl can still play like no other dogs! During our session they had a great time running and playing in the snow.

I had to grab this shot before we went out to play just because I loved how both of them are sitting the exact same way!!

The snow is here. Hasn’t stopped snowing for three days! I went outside tonight and took some photos of the snow on the trees because I always love the way it looks.

When it snows like this it makes me long for snow days – those were always the best!

I hope everyone is surviving the storm. I’m done editing for the night and am heading straight for the couch now to snuggle with my dogs under some nice warm blankets.

Last week I had such a wonderful time photographing Crosbie. He is so full of energy and so happy that it just radiates from him.

Crosbie loves three things; his family, snow and balls – especially balls. He has several stashed in every corner of the house, just in case. His absolute favourite ball is a well loved (ie. quite ripped and tatty looking) Dora the Explorer ball. He chases this ball in the yard for hours and has the biggest grin on his face doing so. No other ball is the same (his humans tried!), it HAS to be this ball.

This was also a special photo shoot because the family was moving 2 days after our shoot! It became not only a tribute to Crosbie, but also to the home they first purchased as a family together. I fell in love with their house and secretly wished that I was the one moving into it the following week.

When I arrived at their house, the snow was gently falling and was quite beautiful. By the time we’d finished some shots inside, an outright blizzard started – but that didn’t stop us! You can see how snowy it was in some of the photos. Everyone got covered in snow, including my camera (not to worry, it’s ok!).

Crosbie is so dang cute that I had a very hard time narrowing it down…
