Beauty in Your Own Backyard

I am sure Sarah and Ben had walked through this field a hundred times without thinking about how perfect it was for a portrait session, but as soon as I drove past it on the way to their house, I fell in love. We were scheduled to go to one of my favourite graffiti walls, but we just had to photograph here first. It was perfect and beautiful…and home to the biggest spider I’ve ever seen!! eek. I decided not to document that part of our shoot.

Sarah and Ben have the most adventurous cat I’ve ever met. Her name is Jupiter and she loves being outside. Also in their family is Percy, a lab mix they rescued from a shelter in Kingston a few years ago. She is sweet and probably the best behaved dogs I’ve ever met. I love it when couples or families decide to include their pets in their portrait sessions!

We shot a few with the furkids, then ventured out on our own for some fun couples portraits. Sarah and Ben have been married for over three years now and are still as in love as the day they got married.

Sarah and Ben are also cool because we share a love for Sushi and they recently introduced me to an amazing Sushi Restaurant in Ottawa called Genji. If you love sushi, definitely check them out!

And without further adieu, may I present: Sarah, Ben, Percy and Jupiter.

Can a Toronto Maple Leafs fan and an Ottawa Senators fan find love?

Posted on Jul 19, 2010 at 2:00 pm by · 3 Comments

Why yes, yes they can!

Last week, Erin, Chris and I got together at the famous 5 Span Bridge in Pakenham, Ontario to shoot their engagement session. We had a great time and it was filled to the brim with laughs. Erin and Chris have chosen me to be their wedding photographer for their beautiful fall wedding coming up in October and I was excited to have their engagement session because it gives us a chance to work together and hang out before their wedding.

Erin has a very unique engagement ring – it has the centre of an Irish Claddagh ring and the rest of the Claddagh ring will be made up by her wedding band. Another unique quality of the ring is that it is red and it is so beautiful. Red is also going to be their wedding colour – I can’t wait!

I took a lot of photos at this session and I can tell you that most of them were of these two giggling. Chris is such a joker and kept making funny faces and just generally cracking Erin (an me!) up – it was awesome.

So without further adieu, Erin and Chris, in love!

And now for the photos that Jenn took of us! We used some of these for our holiday cards this year too and they were a BIG hit.

We wanted a fun family portrait and Jenn didn’t disappoint!

Photo Swap ~ Jenn Bailey Photography

Posted on Dec 22, 2009 at 2:00 pm by · 5 Comments

Way back in November, Jenn Bailey of Jennifer Bailey Photography approached me about doing some family photos for her holiday cards. I jumped at the chance to photograph Jenn’s adorable family!

She also requested some photos of herself and her hubby, sans kiddos. They hadn’t had a photo of just the two of them since the kids were born! We had a great time at the Old Mill in Manotik.

Since these photos were going out on holiday cards, I didn’t want to ruin the surprise. Now that Christmas is two days away, I am pretty sure it’s safe!

So lo and behold – my favourite shots from our mini-session.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing baby Jakub. He was three weeks old and WIDE AWAKE the entire session. We worked with it and got some great shots!
