Every dog just wants to Be-Loved

Posted on Feb 13, 2012 at 11:23 am by · 3 Comments

I heard this song the other day and I realize it’s supposed to be about people, but it really spoke to me about rescuing.

I created a video using this beautiful song by Christina Perri to spread the word about rescues and adoption. Take a look here, and please share. There are so many amazing dogs who are still looking for their family.

I will be launching a new website very soon which will be a personal project by me to spread the word about rescues. Please check out be-loved.ca soon.

All images in this video were taken by me, and each of them is a rescued dog. It’s not an easy journey, but it is worth every step.

This video features: our own dog, Wellie, as well as Penny, Charly, Barley, Willow, Newman, Millie, Jazz, Bailey, Tina, Scruffy, Percy, Aura, Blaze, Eclipse, Sahara, Kobalt, Nakia, Skye, Layla, Dolly and Lexi.

Have a wonderful day,

Crazy Dog Lady…and Tate

Posted on Sep 19, 2010 at 10:27 pm by · No Comments

I’m a big suck, I really am. I am in Toronto for four days and I miss Thomas and the puppies like CRAZY! I’ve been looking at all the dogs going on walks and wanting to just run over and scoop them up for a big hug. I usually decide against this as the people who actually own the dogs might think I’m a bit crazy, but I definitely think about it.

The other morning I actually awoke to some pitter pattering above and thought “oh, the dogs are here”, then I realized they couldn’t be here and woke myself up to figure out what was going on. Turns out it was just a critter in the air ducts, but for a split second I thought it was my dogs (I’m a bit crazy). I can’t wait to get home and give them lots of hugs and kisses.

I had the opportunity to photograph a beautiful and distinguished standard poodle today named Tate, and I must say I loved the canine company. Tate is a very loved member of the family and I had a wonderful time capturing his spirit.

One for the road, and lots more later.

Beauty in Your Own Backyard

Posted on Aug 9, 2010 at 9:30 pm by · 8 Comments

I am sure Sarah and Ben had walked through this field a hundred times without thinking about how perfect it was for a portrait session, but as soon as I drove past it on the way to their house, I fell in love. We were scheduled to go to one of my favourite graffiti walls, but we just had to photograph here first. It was perfect and beautiful…and home to the biggest spider I’ve ever seen!! eek. I decided not to document that part of our shoot.

Sarah and Ben have the most adventurous cat I’ve ever met. Her name is Jupiter and she loves being outside. Also in their family is Percy, a lab mix they rescued from a shelter in Kingston a few years ago. She is sweet and probably the best behaved dogs I’ve ever met. I love it when couples or families decide to include their pets in their portrait sessions!

We shot a few with the furkids, then ventured out on our own for some fun couples portraits. Sarah and Ben have been married for over three years now and are still as in love as the day they got married.

Sarah and Ben are also cool because we share a love for Sushi and they recently introduced me to an amazing Sushi Restaurant in Ottawa called Genji. If you love sushi, definitely check them out!

And without further adieu, may I present: Sarah, Ben, Percy and Jupiter.
