Croquet on the Lawn ~ Molnar Family Sneak Peek
Posted on May 20, 2012 at 9:00 am by Liz · No CommentsA few weeks ago I got a call from Barbara’s father. He was calling to inquire about a portrait session for Barb’s mother for her birthday. I was so excited and said a very enthusiastic yes!!
We scheduled the session for the same day as Barb and Chris’ engagement session and luckily enough we had the perfect day for both sessions.
The true star of the show was Dudley, their 6 year old Border Collie/Blue Heeler mix who they have had since he was 1 week old! Barb used to work at the Arnprior Humane Society and there came a need to nurse five puppies until they were ready to be adopted out at 8 weeks old. It was a lot of work, but they were able to raise the puppies to be healthy and happy and socialized and 1 day after the puppies left to go back to the humane society to be adopted, they drove BACK to get Dudley.
Dudley is very attached to his humans and absolutely LOVES playing fetch – so much so that he will carry every item you have thrown for him in his mouth at once!

Dudley demonstrating his fetch abilities.

Married over 30 years and still so in love!

The whole family in the woods behind their house.

Growing up, Barb and her parents would play croquet on the lawn every year on Mother’s Day and again on Father’s day. We decided to break out the set and have a game on their front lawn. Chris had never played before and everyone had a great time, including Dudley who supervised and tried hard not to run after the croquet balls!

We didn’t forget about their elusive cat, Grecia. She was hiding out in the bedroom to avoid the dog-fest that was going on in the rest of the house. We had some cuddles and got some shots of her as well.

Have a wonderful day,

Puppy Love ~ Barb and Chris’ Engagement Sneak Peek
Posted on May 19, 2012 at 9:00 am by Liz · No CommentsBefore I even met Barbara I knew that I’d love her. Barbara’s mother was helping with the search for a photographer for Barb and Chris’ September 2011 wedding and the inquiry started out something along the lines of “My daughter also love dogs and shoes!” and I knew I had to meet her!
Sure enough, Barb is wonderful and so his her awesome fiancé, Chris, as well as their super adorable fur-kids, Ava and Lily.
When we were talking about their engagement session I asked them if there was somewhere special they wanted to have the session and Barb knew right away a place that would be perfect. We had the session in the woods around her parents’ house in the small town of Carp, Ontario – where she grew up, and where they still walk their dogs today while visiting.
As we walked into the woods yesterday, Barb mentioned that she had a few places in mind for us to shoot in and sure enough, they had also thought enough ahead to bring a ladder into the forest to climb one of the trees!
Their dogs were so excited to run and play through the woods, even though Ava, their 3 year old white boxer, had just had surgery to remove a porcupine quill and wasn’t supposed to be playing around with Lily, their 10 month old Cane Corso Mastiff. Of course this meant we had to separate them every 5 minutes but they had a blast, including racing through the muck and mud…repeatedly.
Thank you Barb and Chris for climbing trees, getting eaten alive by mosquitoes and for loving the idea of having the session for your dogs just as much as for you.

Family.

Ava, who is such a sweetheart and jumps like a deer.

Lily, the gentle giant who follows her big dog-sister around everywhere.

This may be one of my favourite images ever. This wasn’t set up at all, I was photographing Barb and Chris and saw this little face peering out at me through their legs. So cute!!

By the lake.

Can you spot Ava?

Barb’s ring is a family heirloom. It was Chris’ grandmother’s ring and both of them feel so special to have such a beautiful history in their engagement ring.

And this is what dogs look like after a session with me. Sleepy sleepy. Ava could barely keep here eyes open!

Have a wonderful day,

Becky and Mike are finally getting married!
Posted on Feb 27, 2010 at 6:23 pm by Liz · 3 CommentsBecky and Mike had been together for four years and their parents were wondering what was taking them so long. Each family loved both of them and was patiently waiting for the day that they announced that they were going to get married. And they waited while they bought their first home. And they waited when they brought home the cutest Golden Retriever puppy in the world, Lily.
But Mike knew what he was doing all along. He was waiting until Becky had no idea what was coming. Their families all knew, he called them to tell them he was about to propose. Then, while sitting in their home with their loving dog by their side, Mike proposed.
Now I’ve written this all to sound like it was very romantic, which may not be exactly 100% true. The actual proposal went a little something like this: Mike threw something at Becky. She was a bit confused as to why he suddenly felt the urge to begin chucking things at her. She picked up what he had thrown and as it dawned on her what it was, he said very to the point, “So you wanna get married?”.
Now on the surface, it doesn’t look too romantic, but I assure you that Mike is definitely a closet romantic. The ring he had “given” to Becky was custom designed by him and made by the jeweller that Becky’s family has been using for years. Couple that with calling everyone to let them know they’d be stopping by to share their exciting news and folks, you have a romantic no matter how much they may protest this point!
The newly engaged couple then make the rounds at their families’ houses and by the time they reached Mike’s Parents’ house they had a cake waiting for them. Written on it was the simple word: “Finally!”.
I went to high school with Becky and am good friends with her younger sister. In all the years I have known her I have never seen her look so happy. She and Mike are such a perfect fit and you can definitely feel that when you are around them.
Their wedding is set for sometime in the spring of 2011 in some yet-determined tropical locale and I know that it will be a beautiful day, and a start to an already flourishing romance.

I like to call this one: Where is Lily?

Becky and Mike have three fur-kids, Lily, the Golden Retriever and Big and New, the cats.

Lily’s trick to graduate from Dog Obedience School was to balance cheese on her paws without touching it. We used this talent to get a great shot of Becky’s engagement ring on Lily’s paw! Good dog Lily! (she got to eat some actual cheese after the shot!!)

The location of the shoot was just stunning – check out the cliffs!

I really believe that Lily must have been a Mountain Goat in her previous life the way she scaled the cliff. She was a natural.

To Becky and Mike, thank you so much for asking me to come and document your love. Both Jane and I had such a great time with you!
Have a wonderful day,
