Croquet on the Lawn ~ Molnar Family Sneak Peek
Posted on May 20, 2012 at 9:00 am by Liz · No CommentsA few weeks ago I got a call from Barbara’s father. He was calling to inquire about a portrait session for Barb’s mother for her birthday. I was so excited and said a very enthusiastic yes!!
We scheduled the session for the same day as Barb and Chris’ engagement session and luckily enough we had the perfect day for both sessions.
The true star of the show was Dudley, their 6 year old Border Collie/Blue Heeler mix who they have had since he was 1 week old! Barb used to work at the Arnprior Humane Society and there came a need to nurse five puppies until they were ready to be adopted out at 8 weeks old. It was a lot of work, but they were able to raise the puppies to be healthy and happy and socialized and 1 day after the puppies left to go back to the humane society to be adopted, they drove BACK to get Dudley.
Dudley is very attached to his humans and absolutely LOVES playing fetch – so much so that he will carry every item you have thrown for him in his mouth at once!

Dudley demonstrating his fetch abilities.

Married over 30 years and still so in love!

The whole family in the woods behind their house.

Growing up, Barb and her parents would play croquet on the lawn every year on Mother’s Day and again on Father’s day. We decided to break out the set and have a game on their front lawn. Chris had never played before and everyone had a great time, including Dudley who supervised and tried hard not to run after the croquet balls!

We didn’t forget about their elusive cat, Grecia. She was hiding out in the bedroom to avoid the dog-fest that was going on in the rest of the house. We had some cuddles and got some shots of her as well.

Have a wonderful day,

The Session That Almost Wasn’t…
Posted on Mar 31, 2011 at 11:30 am by Liz · 1 CommentAs I am getting caught up in blog posts, today’s takes us all the way back to the fall of 2010. Jen is a phenomenal newborn and family photographer and she and I have been friends for a few years. Every year we meet to take photos of each other’s families for the holidays.
But this session almost didn’t happen because both of us got SO insanely lost that we almost never made it! Both Jen and I had been lusting after photographing at Mackenzie King Estate so we thought it would be the perfect place for our double session. The main road through Gatineau Park to get there was closed for the season, so we ended up detouring around and both of us got crazy lost and Thomas and I even accidentally ended up driving onto someone’s private property – oopsie!
When we finally did both arrive, the scenery was beautiful. It was a chilly day and not many people were out and about, but we had a great time shooting and got some fantastic shots.
To see the portraits that Jen took of my family, click here.
And finally (sorry for the hugelong wait) is Jen and her beautiful family.

As a side note, Jen and Greg recently welcomed their fourth child, and she will be up tomorrow! We did some maternity portraits on this day as well!
Have a wonderful day,

Staying Dry and Warm is for Sissies
Posted on Jan 30, 2011 at 1:00 pm by Liz · 3 CommentsJenga is the type of dog that everyone wants. She is warm, friendly, loving and full of beans.
During our fall session (yes I’m a bit behind on blogging!), Jenga never stopped moving – she ran and jumped and before we could stop her, she was IN the water! It wasn’t snowing yet, but this was the weekend before Ottawa’s first big snowstorm and it was far from warm. Jenga didn’t seem to notice as once she got it in her head, there was no stopping her. She was in and out and in and out over and over and all the while had the goofiest doggy grin on her face. She had a blast.

Jenga’s humans ordered the most beautiful 20×24″ Floatmount Canvas Print Storyboard and it is stunning. I seriously almost kept it for myself it’s so gorgeous!

Floatmount canvas prints are created when the storyboard or photo is printed onto canvas, then wrapped around masonite to create a thin wrap which is protected with laminate and padding is added between the print and the masonite to give the front of the Floatmount a raised, elegant look. The back has a 3/4-inch gatorblock that allows the print to extend out from the wall. It is because of this that they appear to “float” on the wall. The Floatmount Canvas Prints come ready to hang, so there is no framing necessary!
If you have any questions about my products or my process, please send me a note – I’d love to hear from you!

Family Time at the Manotick Mill
Posted on Dec 22, 2010 at 10:30 am by Liz · No CommentsThis is the first of two sessions that the Clermont family have booked. This one was the winter wonderland portion where we went for a walk a the Watson’s Mill in Manotick. It was quite a cold day and the kiddos did quite well!
Finnigan, their dog, joined us for the session – he is a labradoodle and is beyond adorable. So scruffy and so cute.

We found some leaves still hanging around on the ground so we had to make sure to play with them!

I just love little kids in snowsuits – they can barely move and it’s just too adorable.

Walking in a winter wonderland! I know it’s cheesy, but it fits!

Clermont family, thank you for braving the cold for our shoot – I can’t wait for our spring session!
Have a wonderful day,
