Not Liz’s Fault Day

Today is my day: today is Not Liz’s Fault Day.

Let me explain. In my life, I am rarely right – it’s just how it is. I’m kind of a doofus sometimes and I think I’m right, but usually I am not. It’s quite funny actually. Well four years ago today I actually was right about something and it was a big deal.

We marked the triumphant day in our calendar and that is how Not Liz’s Fault Day was born. Every year Thomas tries to do something different. One year it was signs all over the house and today he brought me flowers.

I am celebrating today with a little Say Yes to the Dress, some Better Off Ted and maybe a little dancing to Katy Perry‘s new album.

I also managed to burn one of my fingers on my new hair straightener – but because it’s today: it’s not my fault! haha

In dreams and in love there are no impossibilities

I still remember the day that Katie told me that Mathieu had proposed. I was recently engaged myself and she and I had been talking about how she and Matt were thinking about getting married. She came to see me and didn’t even need to tell me – I immediately spotted her infectious grin and her beautiful engagement ring.

I’ve known Katie for about three years now and funnily enough our lives paralleled in some pretty big milestones throughout the time we’ve known each other. We both bought our first homes within weeks of each other and we also got engaged around the same time as well. When Katie purchased her first home, she was single and loving it. Purchasing that home forever changed her life. Living next door was a strapping young man who would come over and help her fix things around the house. He would find any excuse to come over and see her. If you haven’t guessed it by now, this was Mathieu. Eventually he would move out of his house and move next door in with Katie and on June 19th, 2010, they stood in front of each other and promised to love one another forever.

Katie and Matt’s wedding was beautiful. It was one of the hottest days in June and it thunderstormed ALL morning. Nothing could get Katie’s spirits down though and she really did have nothing to worry about because by the time we came to take photos outside, it had completely cleared up. They got the best of both worlds; rain for luck, and sunny for their photos!

These two have such love for each other and it is so evident to everyone who knows them. They recently bought a farm and their honeymoon was spent installing electric fences and lots and LOTS of planting. Both are very in tune with the environment and you can see that even in their wedding colours: green!

Thank you Katie and Mathieu for letting me photograph your love, and your day. I hope you love your photos as much as I do!

My peace of mind was courtesy of my awesome bridesmaids & my mom, Day of event co-ordinator, Linda, and the blog apracticalwedding.com where I’ve been reading for over a year about how I should let all the details go on the day of the wedding and just be in the moment. Apparently it worked!

Spring Flowers

It was so beautiful today that I couldn’t resist taking some pictures of my mother’s garden, as well as some other spots near my house. The only downside was that there was so much pollen in the air that it looked like it was snowing!

Sneak Peek: Jenn and Chester’s Wedding ~ Toronto
