Picnic in the Snow ~ Jen and Dan’s Engagement Sneak Peek
Posted on Jan 15, 2012 at 7:46 pm by Liz · 1 CommentIt’s not every day that you meet a couple who wants to do their portraits in the winter – but Jen and Dan aren’t your regular couple. These two are such wonderful people and Jen and I talked about a winter engagement session at our very first meeting at our wedding consultation!
Needless to say, yesterday was a very cold day in Ottawa but these two were such troopers. We began at the Bank of Canada and then headed out around downtown Ottawa and the Supreme Court of Canada for some hot chocolate and a pseudo picnic in the snow!
Jen and Dan – thank you for freezing your toes off and getting covered in snow. I had such a blast with you and I hope you did as well!

Brave brave souls who would lay down in the snow for this shot!

Have a wonderful day,

Big Love in Little Italy ~ Krista and Dan’s (& Riker) Sneak Peek
Posted on Oct 29, 2011 at 5:11 pm by Liz · 1 CommentThis morning I spend a few hours walking around Little Italy and Westboro with Krista and Dan. These two were so much fun and braved the chilly morning with laughter and a few tears (on account of the cold making Krista’s eyes water like crazy).
These two lovebirds are getting married in Newfoundland next summer, but wanted some engagement portraits in the city that they now live in, and love.
We began in Little Italy, walking along Preston Street, taking in the morning sun and posing in front of cute restaurant after cute restaurant.
And in front of blue doors…

An aforementioned cute restaurant (don’t ask me which one though because I can’t remember! haha)

I just love this mural underneath the bridge and I asked Krista and Dan to pose like the silhouettes around them.

I also spent some time creeping in bushes and looking a bit like a stalker – I’m pretty sure that’s what they are laughing about here on the right.

We then headed to their apartment to pick up their fur-kid, Riker, the pug. This guy’s love of the camera was only to be outdone by his love for treats.
This is his, “Please Liz, may I have some more?” face.

Look I’m sitting, can I have the treat?

“Hey guys, whatcha doin’? I thought we were going for a walk here!” – Riker the pug.

Love in the Byward Market ~ Laura and Sean’s Sneak Peek
Posted on Oct 17, 2011 at 8:37 am by Liz · No CommentsThe other night I wasn’t sure if we were going to get rained out yesterday, but when I woke up to blue skies and even sunshine, I knew that the weather network never gets it right – and that’s ok with me!
Laura and Sean spend almost every Sunday perusing the market for the perfect fruits and vegetables to cook with, and then spend the afternoon together cooking up a storm. So it was fitting that yesterday morning I spent some time in the Byward Market and around downtown Ottawa with Laura and Sean for their engagement session. We had a blast and pretty much laughed the whole time.
These two are such wonderful people and I had such a lovely time walking, chatting and of course, photographing them!
Laura and Sean, thank you for sitting on damp things and getting a bit muddy – it was definitely worth it I think!

I just adored these cute little hand painted mini pumpkins, so of course we had to incorporate them into the ring shots!

I just love the colours of fall. We were so lucky that so many different coloured leaves were still on the trees.

Laura’s favourite colour is blue and Sean incorporated this into her engagement ring. There is a teensy blue stone on one side, and this will match her wedding band which has the same stone on the other side. Beautiful and so unique!

Fall in Love ~ Tiffany and Phil’s Sneak Peek
Posted on Oct 13, 2011 at 12:04 pm by Liz · 3 CommentsYesterday I spent a few hours with Tiffany and Phil, celebrating their engagement in the beautiful Gatineau Hills at Mackenzie King Estates.
The changing fall colours were absolutely breathtaking and were the perfect backdrop for Tiffany and Phil – especially since they got engaged in Gatineau Park!
We had a great time walking through the estates and surrounding forest and they were very brave and walked through muddiness to get the perfect shot.
Look at the beautiful fall colours!

Walking through muddiness = awesome shot.

I’m in love with these colours.

And while we were getting this shot…

These deer were grazing in the same field. So serene!

We Rocked the Raindrops ~ Heather and Dave’s Engagement Sneak Peek
Posted on Oct 4, 2011 at 3:05 pm by Liz · 2 CommentsWhen I woke up yesterday morning and saw the dreary weather, I thought that Heather and Dave may want to reschedule their engagement session. It turns out they loved the idea of shooting in the rain (yay! Love adventurous couples!) and we had a blast!
We drove up to Heather’s family cottage for the session and it was picture perfect. A beautiful view of the lake and the cottage is nestled amongst the trees – I could have stayed there for days.
Heather’s engagement ring has the stone from Dave’s grandmother’s ring. So sweet – I love little details about family history like that.

Relaxing on the hammock.

I think this image is my favourite from the whole session. So beautiful. Yes, even with that coat Dave!

Happiness.

Rocking the rain!
