Wellie Nelly Jelly Bean
Posted on Mar 30, 2011 at 9:53 pm by Liz · No CommentsTonight marks the third week that week have had Wellington. It seems like she has been with us – been a part of our family – for so much longer. She is fitting in really well, but our journey has not been without obstacles. If you’d like to read more about our adventures with Wellington, head on over to my Ottawa Dog Blog to read about it. I have been blogging every Wednesday and will continue to do so for a little while.
I did a little session with Wellie this afternoon and I was so excited with how they turned out. She is turning into quite the little model this one!
I also took a video of her playing with her new treat ball. If you have a busy or active dog, this is fantastic to keep them busy!
I’ve still got a lot of blog posts to catch up on so watch for those soon. Recently I have been a little scarse on this blog because I’ve been tending to not only Wellie, but to the Ottawa Dog Blog as well. I promise there will be lots of new yummy photo deliciousness on here soon!
Have a wonderful day,

It’s Raining Dogs!
Posted on Mar 20, 2011 at 2:49 pm by Liz · 7 CommentsI wanted to jump on here quickly to let you know that I’m sorry for not blogging for a while, but I promise I have a very good excuse: it’s raining dogs. Well not literally raining dogs, but there have been a lot of changes in my family and we are happy to be welcoming new dogs!
Sonnet
First up is Sonnet, a teensy weensy little Maltese/Shih Tzu puppy my sister will be picking up in three weeks. We visited the breeder last weekend so Jane could choose which puppy she wanted, and she chose a little brown female who she is naming, Sonnet.
She is four weeks old in these portraits.

Wellington
We weren’t looking for a third dog, but she found us. I found Wellington (formerly Maddie) on Petfinder and she was at a rescue called Animatch. She was at the centre for three months before she joined our family, and now we know that she was just waiting for us to realize she belonged with us.
We brought her home just over a week ago and she is just wonderful. You can read about our adventures with Wellie on my Ottawa Dog Blog where I’ll be blogging every week about her progress.

I took a video of the three dogs playing the day after we brought her home. Their energies match quite well and they have been playing like this at least once (if not more) every day!
To view a slideshow of the portraits I did during Wellie’s first weekend home, click here.
So that is my excuse! Everything has been about dogs around here and I’ll be getting back to blogging soon. I still have TONS of sessions to blog.
Have a wonderful day,

My little 4-legged models
Posted on Aug 29, 2010 at 7:23 pm by Liz · 4 CommentsI was asked a few months ago to shoot a special project (more on that in September) and I had to include dogs. Of course I thought that the perfect models would be my little ones.
Photographing dogs is one of my favourite things in this world, but photographing MY OWN dogs is a task I tell you. They both have perfected the art of not looking at me while I am pointing the camera at them. I’ll put it down, they’ll look, and as soon as it’s up to my eye again, they are very interested in over-there or that-spot-on-the-floor. Basically anywhere but at me. It proves quite difficult – all of my sounds don’t work on them anymore. They’re even getting hip to my backup sounds.
Today Paddington was all over the place for some reason, while Corduroy was chill as usual so I decided she was my girl for this job. She was very good even though I didn’t use treats! Although it took many, many shots before I had some of her actually looking at me.
I will announce what this project is in September, but for now here is some behind the scenes info about these photos.
About a millisecond after I shot this, Corduroy jumped out of the backpack and took a flying leap to chase a squirrel. Thomas and I both held our breath as she soared through the air to the ground. Fortunately she landed on her feet and was ok. She also was able to secure the permitter from the squirrel invasion.

Didn’t pose this one, just sat in the hot hot sun and waited for her to come over.

I was playing around a bit – Corduroy wasn’t as impressed as I was…

Meanwhile, Paddington decided it would be a good idea to roll in something gross and smelly in the grass.

She LOVES rolling in smelly grossness. Icky for me, heaven for her.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to give a certain dog a bath…

Pampered Puppy Dog Product Reviews
Posted on Jun 1, 2010 at 10:00 am by Liz · No CommentsI am so excited to tell you about something I’ve been working hard at this month: the Pampered Puppy Product Reviews! I was approached by Pampered Puppy a few months ago about doing the product reviews for June and July and I jumped at the chance. It was such fun and Paddington and Corduroy loved trying out the products and posing for the pictures.
We reviewed four products this month and you can head on over to the Pampered Puppy website to see them.
I also have a lovely ad on the home page of the site which I am very excited about.
Have a wonderful day,

Happy Birthday Corduroy!
Posted on Jan 10, 2010 at 7:00 pm by Liz · 4 CommentsToday is Corduroy’s second birthday. I can’t believe she’s two! It feels like yesterday we went to pick up the little ball of fur. She’s still a littleish ball of fur and we love her more every day!
Corduroy has been such a welcome joy to our lives. We can’t even imagine our lives without her and can’t remember her not being with us. She is a great dog and one of the cutest I have ever seen…although I may be a little biased on that one. She is loving, sweet, and is such a happy little soul.
Corduroy and Paddington got along right off the bat and remain best friends to this day. They play together several times a day and check on each other when one of them gets stressed out.
In honour of Corduroy’s birthday today we participated in some of her favourite activities: we slept in, had cheese on our breakfast, had another nap, played, ate cookies, watched tv and had a rest and so on. Her activity level is quite different from Paddington, who for her birthday, we went to Bruce Pitt and had a great run/play/walk.
I took some photos today of Corduroy enjoying her Happy Birthday cookies from Bark & Fitz. The little rascal swiped it right from me while I was trying to shoot it and began eating it, so I decided that since it’s her birthday, I’d let her and started snapping away. The photos were so funny I decided to display them as a storyboard.

For those of you who are worried, yes Corduroy shared her birthday cookie with Paddington
