Puppy Love ~ Barb and Chris’ Engagement Sneak Peek
Posted on May 19, 2012 at 9:00 am by Liz · No CommentsBefore I even met Barbara I knew that I’d love her. Barbara’s mother was helping with the search for a photographer for Barb and Chris’ September 2011 wedding and the inquiry started out something along the lines of “My daughter also love dogs and shoes!” and I knew I had to meet her!
Sure enough, Barb is wonderful and so his her awesome fiancé, Chris, as well as their super adorable fur-kids, Ava and Lily.
When we were talking about their engagement session I asked them if there was somewhere special they wanted to have the session and Barb knew right away a place that would be perfect. We had the session in the woods around her parents’ house in the small town of Carp, Ontario – where she grew up, and where they still walk their dogs today while visiting.
As we walked into the woods yesterday, Barb mentioned that she had a few places in mind for us to shoot in and sure enough, they had also thought enough ahead to bring a ladder into the forest to climb one of the trees!
Their dogs were so excited to run and play through the woods, even though Ava, their 3 year old white boxer, had just had surgery to remove a porcupine quill and wasn’t supposed to be playing around with Lily, their 10 month old Cane Corso Mastiff. Of course this meant we had to separate them every 5 minutes but they had a blast, including racing through the muck and mud…repeatedly.
Thank you Barb and Chris for climbing trees, getting eaten alive by mosquitoes and for loving the idea of having the session for your dogs just as much as for you.

Family.

Ava, who is such a sweetheart and jumps like a deer.

Lily, the gentle giant who follows her big dog-sister around everywhere.

This may be one of my favourite images ever. This wasn’t set up at all, I was photographing Barb and Chris and saw this little face peering out at me through their legs. So cute!!

By the lake.

Can you spot Ava?

Barb’s ring is a family heirloom. It was Chris’ grandmother’s ring and both of them feel so special to have such a beautiful history in their engagement ring.

And this is what dogs look like after a session with me. Sleepy sleepy. Ava could barely keep here eyes open!

Evening Light and Love ~ Stephanie and Jeff’s Engagement Sneak Peek
Posted on May 15, 2012 at 3:22 pm by Liz · No CommentsI am so happy that the weather has warmed up and that I can once again begin to schedule sessions in the evening. This is one of my favourite times to shoot, as the sun is setting and the warm day is cooling off a tad – and that was exactly how it was last night for Stephanie and Jeff’s engagement session along the Ottawa Parkway.
While the pink blossoms were falling off the trees gently around us, these two followed me through tall grasses while we “off-roaded” and I am so happy with the images we were able to capture.
I am so excited about Stephanie and Jeff’s upcoming wedding at a brand new wedding location in the Gatineau Hills called Le Belvedere. These two are such wonderful people and I just can’t wait to capture their wedding day with them.

The Girl on the Bus ~ Melanie and Curtis’ Sneak Peek
Posted on Apr 13, 2012 at 6:29 pm by Liz · No CommentsMelanie and Curtis have the best story of how they found each other – I literally squealed when they told me about it at their engagement session today at Rockcliffe Park.
They met on a bus. Honestly, they did. Curtis saw Melanie one day on the bus on the way to work – he was running late and she was there. He immediately knew that she was special and from then on, he was purposely late for work, just so he could ride the same bus as her.
Little did he know, but Melanie noticed Curtis as well and it turns out that her sister went to school with him. One day Curtis got up the courage to talk to her, and the rest is history!
These two have a very special four-legged family member that we, of course, included in their engagement session. Their adorable dog, Poopsie, is such a loving ball of fluff and he really enjoyed the treats I was dolling out.
Melanie and Curtis will be getting married this summer and I can’t wait for their big day!

Stud Muffin at Six Months ~ Tavis’ Sneak Peek
Posted on Mar 13, 2012 at 8:59 pm by Liz · 2 CommentsIt’s not every day that you get to photograph an adorable baby. What makes this even more special is the aforementioned cuteness belongs to some super-talented photographers who I am privileged to call friends.
Meet Tavis, a super amazing 6 month old baby who has a very spiffy wardrobe and a fantastic smile. This little dude is one of the most chilled babies I’ve ever met and has some great baby blue eyes.
His parents are Brian and Ivanette Hargreaves from the amazing BH Photography. They are fantastic wedding and portrait photographers and have a great studio in Almonte, where we had our session today. It’s such a cute town! I need to go back and get some of this apple cinnamon bread that Ivy was telling me about from a local bakery…but I digress.
My intern, Valerie, came along on this session as well and here she is working her magic with Tavis, who doesn’t seem too pleased with it – but I promise he loved her!

His other name should be: Stud Muffin

Tavis prefers not to wear shoes.

Brian is a volunteer firefighter and Tavis is proud of him. While he doesn’t like shoes, he likes fireman boots. Obviously because they are far better than boring old shoes.

“My Dad is a firefighter” – Tavis

All smiles for Mommy.

Family! I love how Tavis isn’t paying any attention to me at all haha – Valerie had him very captivated!

“My other car is my Dad’s shoulders” – Tavis

“They are kissing aren’t they…gross…” -Tavis

Baby on a railroad = stinkin’ cute! (please note that this railroad is barely used so we were very safe while taking these photos. I promise.)

…and we’re done.

Cupcake Smash and a Bath ~ Aidan’s Sneak Peek
Posted on Feb 18, 2012 at 3:46 pm by Liz · No CommentsI love seeing clients’ family’s grow and when Andrea contacted me for a 1 year session for Aidan, I was more than thrilled!
You may remember Aidan’s newborn session from last year. I was lucky enough to capture his early days and boy has he grown since then!
Remember Aidan at 6 weeks:

And here he is at 1! He had some cheerios….and they kinda got all over the place – by no fault of his own…obviously.

Family.

Mr. Aidan loves being thrown up in the air like an airplane.
We also decided that since Aidan had just celebrated his first birthday, we should let him go nuts on a cupcake…I think he liked it…

Seconds before he started “painting” the floor with the icing, using the cupcake like a crayon.

After we finished getting cupcake everywhere, Aidan was in desperate need of a bath. Aidain LOVES baths and had a fantastic time playing and splashing…and eating the bubbles. Yum.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEEEEEEEE” – Aidan.
