In Between the Rain Drops ~ Vikki and Dan’s Sneak Peek
Posted on Aug 14, 2011 at 9:30 pm by Liz · 2 CommentsThis evening brought a bit of rain, and a lot of laughs with Vikki and Dan’s engagement session at Mackenzie King Estates in Gatineau Park. You may recognize Vikki from her session with their dog Milo and cat Otis a few weeks ago.
These two are tying the knot in a few short weeks!

We managed to avoid getting wet by ducking into the forest for some amazing shots.

Thanks you two for being brave, and getting a bit wet! I think it was worth it.
Have a wonderful day,

Here are two for now and there are lots more where these came from!

Sweetness in the Shape of Love
Posted on Feb 26, 2011 at 8:38 pm by Liz · 6 CommentsOne of the most iconic things about Ottawa is the Rideau Canal. Every year Thomas and I vow to go skating on it, and pretty much every year, the season comes and goes and we miss it. This year, although I didn’t skate myself, I did go ON the canal.
Natasha and Dom have been together for 10 years and are two of the most wonderful people you will ever meet. They love zombies, scary movies, Eastbound and Down, The Space Channel, their dogs and each other (of course).
Natasha and Dom are getting married this year and when I suggested doing their engagement session on skates they were pretty excited about it. Natasha was a bit nervous about falling, but she did great – none of us fell once! Go team! I wore Thomas’ YakTrax and they were amazing. I was a bit nervous about wiping out with all of my equipment, but even on the frozen canal, I felt sure footed the entire time.
Before moving to Ottawa I had no idea what a BeaverTail was. I grew up in Toronto and for some reason, the people in Ottawa seem to think that BeaverTails are a Canadian thing, but they are not, they are definitely an Ottawa thing…a delicious and delectable Ottawa thing. For all of you who are also not from Ottawa and have a confused look on your face, a BeaverTail is a deep fried doughy pastry that is covered in cinnamon and sugar and topped with overall deliciousness. If you haven’t tried one, you really should!! There are several flavours to get your tastebuds watering.
Once I knew our location was going to be the canal, I knew I wanted to include the BeaverTail stand in the shots. We asked the wonderful gentleman working there if he would be able to make the BeaverTail in the shape of a heart and boy did he ever deliver!! I was so impressed!! We got some fantastic shots and then…we ate it! Yum.
We stayed out until the sun went down and did some pretty rad night shots and then to wrap everything up in a scrumptious bow, we all went out to dinner at Vittoria Trattoria in the market! All in all, it was a wonderful evening. Vittoria Trattoria is one of my favourite restaurants. Go there and order the Tortellini Gorgonzola – you will not regret it, I promise.
Thank you Nat and Dom for braving the cold and I hope you love your images as much as I do!

Beauty in Your Own Backyard
Posted on Aug 9, 2010 at 9:30 pm by Liz · 8 CommentsI am sure Sarah and Ben had walked through this field a hundred times without thinking about how perfect it was for a portrait session, but as soon as I drove past it on the way to their house, I fell in love. We were scheduled to go to one of my favourite graffiti walls, but we just had to photograph here first. It was perfect and beautiful…and home to the biggest spider I’ve ever seen!! eek. I decided not to document that part of our shoot.
Sarah and Ben have the most adventurous cat I’ve ever met. Her name is Jupiter and she loves being outside. Also in their family is Percy, a lab mix they rescued from a shelter in Kingston a few years ago. She is sweet and probably the best behaved dogs I’ve ever met. I love it when couples or families decide to include their pets in their portrait sessions!
We shot a few with the furkids, then ventured out on our own for some fun couples portraits. Sarah and Ben have been married for over three years now and are still as in love as the day they got married.
Sarah and Ben are also cool because we share a love for Sushi and they recently introduced me to an amazing Sushi Restaurant in Ottawa called Genji. If you love sushi, definitely check them out!
And without further adieu, may I present: Sarah, Ben, Percy and Jupiter.
