Wedding Vendor Love ~ Pearls for Girls

Posted on Mar 26, 2012 at 11:00 am by · 1 Comment

Last fall I was contacted by a former client about doing some catalog shots for a Canadian charity called Pearls for Girls. I adore helping charities out in any way I can so I said an enthusiastic YES and we set out to capture the beautiful jewellery in the founder’s gorgeous back yard.

When I was photographing (and drooling over) these lovely pieces, I mentioned to them that a lot of them would be perfect as bridal jewellery and so came the idea for a session with a real live bride. Enter the beautiful, lovely, wonderful and amazing Genevieve (and James too), whose wedding I photographed last summer at the Herb Garden in Almonte.

Here is my take on the Pearls for Girls Bridal Magazine. There are LOTS more pieces so be sure to check out the website, or contact them for the full catalog of jewellery.

My First Little Tiny Light Session ~ Sneak Peek for Ben and his family

Posted on Aug 28, 2011 at 6:06 pm by · No Comments

When I first heard about the Tiny Light Foundation I jumped at the chance to be involved.

The Tiny Light Foundation is a non profit organization that provides professional photography for children and families that have been faced with a life altering diagnoses.

We provide families with the lasting memories through the amazing art of photography. With the help of many photographers throughout Canada we are able to provide families with photos they can share and help carry the many memories.

I had my first Tiny Light session yesterday with Ben and his family. Ben has William Syndrome and is the sweetest little guy you could imagine – with personality to boot! He has a determination and love for three things; 1) playing with his trucks at the park, 2) running everywhere and 3) his family, including his Mom and Dad, and two older siblings.

I had the honour of spending a few hours with Ben and his family yesterday and here are a few images for their sneak peek.

Hope Live 2010

Posted on Apr 4, 2011 at 10:00 am by · No Comments

I had the pleasure and honour of once again photographing Hope Live, which raises funds for Fertile Future.

Fertile Future is a charitable organization that raises awareness, funds and provides information for fertility preservation for cancer patients.

The event was completely sold out and was a huge success. From the stunning venue of the the GCTC to the delicious eats by Bekta and the uncontrollable laughter brought on by Rick Mercer followed by the musical musings (and hilarity) of head-liner Jann Arden, everyone had a wonderful evening.

Here is a sampling from the fantastic event.

It’s Raining Dogs!

Posted on Mar 20, 2011 at 2:49 pm by · 7 Comments

I wanted to jump on here quickly to let you know that I’m sorry for not blogging for a while, but I promise I have a very good excuse: it’s raining dogs. Well not literally raining dogs, but there have been a lot of changes in my family and we are happy to be welcoming new dogs!

Sonnet

First up is Sonnet, a teensy weensy little Maltese/Shih Tzu puppy my sister will be picking up in three weeks. We visited the breeder last weekend so Jane could choose which puppy she wanted, and she chose a little brown female who she is naming, Sonnet.

She is four weeks old in these portraits.

Wellington

We weren’t looking for a third dog, but she found us. I found Wellington (formerly Maddie) on Petfinder and she was at a rescue called Animatch. She was at the centre for three months before she joined our family, and now we know that she was just waiting for us to realize she belonged with us.

We brought her home just over a week ago and she is just wonderful. You can read about our adventures with Wellie on my Ottawa Dog Blog where I’ll be blogging every week about her progress.

I took a video of the three dogs playing the day after we brought her home. Their energies match quite well and they have been playing like this at least once (if not more) every day!

To view a slideshow of the portraits I did during Wellie’s first weekend home, click here.

So that is my excuse! Everything has been about dogs around here and I’ll be getting back to blogging soon. I still have TONS of sessions to blog.
