Is it sad that I laugh at the same things I did 10 years ago?
Posted on Sep 25, 2010 at 9:00 am by Liz · No CommentsFound this post on my previous blog over 10 years ago…and I’m still laughing at them!
- Just remember…if the world didn’t suck, we’d all fall off.
- “My mother never saw the irony in calling me a son-of-a-bitch.” Jack Nicholson
- I saw a woman wearing a sweatshirt with “Guess” on it. So I said implants?” She hit me.
- I don’t do drugs. I get the same effect just standing up fast.
- Everyday I beat my own previous record for number of consecutive daysI have stayed alive.
- A dyslexic man walks into a bra.
- I went to a seafood rave last week…. and pulled a mussel.
- What do you call a fish with no eyes? A fsh.
- Two peanuts walk into a bar. One was assaulted.
I really love laughing – it’s probably one of the reasons why funny shows and movies are always my favourites.
Have a wonderful day,

Resolutions: late or early?
Posted on Sep 23, 2010 at 1:30 pm by Liz · No CommentsSo if I make a resolution now, do you think it’s a very late 2010 resolution, or an early 2011 one?
Discuss amongst yourselves…
And while you’re discussing, I’ll explain what this is about. I’ve written before about how I love blogging, and I really do. I also hate writing, which seems counterintuitive, but it actually isn’t. To me, writing is hard, but blogging isn’t. Blogging is writing what I’m thinking – which means it doesn’t always make sense, but words come out and are recorded. Writing has to make sense…which is so not me. I’m quite random.
Circling back around to the resolution part of this confabulation (I totally just thesaurus.com’ed that word), I want to write more on this blog. So I thought I’d declare it to the interwebs and get it out there, so I essentially have to now.
I have been perusing through my first ever blog and I realized that I started it over 10 years ago. Man that’s sad. I didn’t realize it had been that long. It’s actually quite fun to read and I’m a bit sorry that I slacked off between years 2007-2010 and stopped blogging because I promise you, exciting and fun things happened in those times too.
So now, I will blog again. I noticed that I used to do something called “Stats” where I listed what I was watching, reading etc. I’m bringing the Stats back and updating it. It now will be called…
What’s Happening?
listening to: Shawn Desman – Night Like This
reading: Hot Shoe Diaries by Joe McNally
watching: The Office Season 2
loving: All the shows that are premiering this week! TV makes me happy.
not loving: The fact that we are out of milk and aren’t going grocery shopping until tomorrow. Boo.
twitter status: Thursday: you suck because you are not Friday
Have a wonderful day,

The Bravest Person I Know
Posted on Jun 28, 2010 at 2:30 pm by Liz · 5 CommentsWhere do I begin? I’ve started writing this post twice now and each time it doesn’t seem right, doesn’t do her justice.
When she was 17, she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. She was a flute player enrolled in a music high school and was looking ahead to a possible career in music. Her diagnosis changed everything, flipped her life upside down and backwards.
And yet she handled it with a wisdom beyond her years. I know I would not have. She pushed forward and got into one of the best universities in Canada, all while dealing with the pain that fibromyalgia brings. Now she has started a blog – a daily account of the good, and the bad, that comes with this illness. I know her words will help others more than she ever knows, and she’s helped me to understand what she is going through much more than before.
That is why she will always be a better person than I – sharing her personal battles with her illness.
And she will will forever be the bravest person I know.
The bravest person I know is my sister, Jane. The other part of elizabeth&jane photography.

A few weeks ago, Jane and I dragged a white chair from my bedroom out to a field near our house and took some awesome photos. Jane needed a picture for an article she wrote online about her Fibromyalgia and we had been wanting to do a shoot for some time so the timing was good.
Once we dragged the chair into the field, I had to run back the the house to get my equipment and Jane sat with, or rather on, the chair to wait for me. A lady walking her dog came by and gave Jane the strangest look – but I bet it would be funny, she was just sitting in the middle of a field in a chair, somewhat randomly and seemingly for no reason. I probably would have stared too… haha.
It was one of the hottest, muggiest, days, but we got some great shots and stayed hydrated by drinking some really disgusting flavoured Gatorade (must have picked a random odd flavour because I usually like Gatorade).
Thomas wasn’t too pleased to see a blackish mark on the couch when we returned it to the bedroom – oops!
Jane likes standing on chairs in fields.

Jane has some pretty awesome glasses

Some yummy sun

Who is the bravest person you know?

Happiness Walks on Busy Feet
Posted on Jun 1, 2010 at 11:30 am by Liz · No CommentsI am happiest when I am busy, hence the blog title of this post. As the weather gets warmer (recently: a lot warmer!!) and as our wedding season kicks into high gear, our blogging will become a little less frequent. We are busy and I am loving it!
Don’t worry, we will still be blogging all of our sessions, but they may come at you all at once instead of nicely spaced apart. I have quite a few sessions that need to be blogged so those will be going live in the next week or so, including a funtastic shoot I did with Jane a few weeks ago!
Since posts are just plain boring without a photo, here is one from a wedding reception I photographed last weekend. Disclaimer: objects in photo may appear larger than actual size.

A bee is never as busy as it seems; it’s just that it can’t buzz any slower.
Have a wonderful day,

Doing What You Know ~ My Adventures Through the Blogosphere
Posted on Apr 19, 2010 at 8:02 pm by Liz · 1 CommentA lot of photographers who give out advice talk about doing what you know. This is definitely good advice and something I know very well is blogging.

I am no stranger to blogging. I was one of the first to jump on the online journal bandwagon and have had a slew of blogs over the years. I started out with a free Blogspot Blog which I kept for over four years. I then graduated to a free WordPress Blog. That one didn’t last very long, under a year.
Thomas and I traveled Europe in the summer of 2005. We backpacked around six different countries and had a great time. To keep our families and friends at home updated, we kept a travel blog. It included accounts of our travels as well as photos. It’s actually quite a funny read if you have some time to kill – we had some adventures there for sure. One day I will put it all into a book for us, all these words about our trip.
In 2008, I made the leap from personal blogging, to dog blogging and launched the Ottawa Dog Blog. It was right after we had just had to put our dog, Paddington, through knee surgery for a genetic defect that lead me to realize that she came from a puppy mill. This shocking truth created a deep need to give back and start a place where people could go to learn about other places to find dogs other than puppy mills. I was (and still am) also quite obsessed with everything dog related and Thomas was getting sick of me telling him all these dog facts so it also became an outlet to connect with like-minded dog lovers. The blog has been going strong for two years now and I have been very lucky and blessed to have met so many people through it.
2009 marked the launch of this very blog; a photo blog to share my images and my passion for this industry. Simply put, I love taking photographs and I touched on that a while back. It is not only a place to come to see my latest work, but I want it to be a place where you can get to know me a little bit better too.
I do love writing, as much as I thought I didn’t. I don’t like writing what other people tell me to (as in Essays in my school days – ugh) but I love writing what’s on my mind. And I’ll tell you, there usually is quite a bit on my mind. In fact, right now I have three blog posts on the go and several more floating around in my head. I could never meditate, ever. I can’t clear my mind – the notion even scares me a little. And while I try my best to do yoga and be “zen”, I’ll never make it and do as well as some friends of mine. But that’s just who I am: a bit of a spaz with a lot on my mind, and a camera in my hand!
Have a wonderful day,
