Posted on Jan 29, 2011 at 10:00 am by · No Comments

The wedding book is the perfect way to remember your wedding. Kirsten and Shadi chose a beautiful 40 page, 12×12 Hardcover Photo Book and it was perfect.

I used colours from their wedding day to style all of their wedding products including their photo book, mini books, DVD Case and labels and Thank You Cards.

Walking in a Winter (wedding) Wonderland

Posted on Jan 28, 2011 at 12:30 pm by · 3 Comments

This is not a story of love at first sight, but a love grown through words. Rhonda and Anthony lived miles apart, she, in Calgary, Alberta and he, in Cornwall, Ontario, but they found each other, and found love.

They fell in love before they met, and they knew they wanted to spend their lives together mere days after meeting for the first time.

This isn’t a classic love story, it is a new kind of love story where distance doesn’t matter and the heart pulls you in directions you never thought possible.

On their wedding day, Rhonda asked Anthony how he was doing, and he replied “I am happy. I am so happy”

These two warmed my heart from the moment I met them. Thank you so much for allowing my into your lives to capture such a special day.

I’d also like to mention how brave these two were in the cold. It was about -5 degrees and they were climbing over snowbanks and traipsing through snow, and they never complained about the cold once! Definitely some brave souls here!

A Winter Wonderland Wedding

Posted on Dec 17, 2010 at 9:14 pm by · 12 Comments

I was lucky enough to spend today with an amazing couple who were married under a gazebo overlooking the lake, in the snow.

It was the quintessential winter wedding, and it was beautiful.

A preview of lots more to come…

The heart is love, and the hands are friendship

Posted on Dec 9, 2010 at 10:00 am by · 4 Comments

The Claddagh Ring has a deep rooted history and is a token or love, friendship and loyalty. I have had a Claddagh ring for a long time. My first one was given to me by a dear friend and I wore it every day for years until one day it broke. I was not happy. I remember exactly where we were when it happened (Thomas, his brother Shawn and I were spelunking at Bonnechere Caves in Eganville). A few months later, Thomas gave me a Claddagh ring for my birthday and I still wear it every day. He got the ring delivered all the way from Ireland!

When Chris proposed to Erin, he proposed with a Claddagh Ring, but not just any Claddagh ring, a two part ring where the engagement ring has the heart and the wedding band has the hands and crown. They fit together as a perfect set.

And on a beautiful fall day, the set was finally brought together as Erin and Chris exchanged vows (that they wrote themselves!) and promised to love each other forever. The ceremony was held in an old schoolhouse in White Lake at Waba Cottage and surrounded by their family, they pledged their hearts and hands to each other.

Erin looked radiant and Chris looked quite handsome in his three piece suit. You could just feel the love they have for each other and both were so excited and happy to begin their lives together as husband and wife.

They had such beautiful details for their wedding day.

This was the one shot that Chris specifically requested. I met the boys at Tim Hortons before the ceremony and we got this shot of their pre-ceremony java! They almost went through the drive-through, but the limo wouldn’t have fit.

The ceremony was held at Waba Cottage and it was the perfect setting for the intimate ceremony.

The colours were just stunning, as was the bridal party!

Erin wanted to get some shots on the dock and they were just perfect.

We headed to the famous Pakenham Bridge, where we had their engagement session in the summer, to take some wedding photos.

The fall colours were just beautiful.

I don’t do many black and white edits, but these next two are just breathtaking in black and white.

I think they were models in a past life…

As the sun was setting, the light was just beautiful. We had some fun dancing.

…and basking in the glow.

Heading to the reception, through the gorgeous fall trees….and a little leaf-throwing.

I have to take a moment to give a shoutout to Erin and her family for the centrepieces. I am beyond horrible at carving pumpkins, but Erin and her crew spray painted and carved the initals “E & C” into pumpkins for each table! Amazing! Also, Chris is a HUGE Toronto Maple Leafs fan and East Side Mario’s changed their sign for him. He was very excited about this.

True Love Can Weather the Rain

Posted on Nov 25, 2010 at 6:28 pm by · 6 Comments

Where do I begin with Kirsten and Shadi. From the first time we met, it was like we had known each other for years.

Kirsten first contacted me by email from Calgary as she and Shadi were in the middle of moving back to Ottawa, after living in Calgary for several years. The first time we met was at their engagement session. We had a blast around downtown Ottawa and I knew we were meant to be when Kirsten suggested having our wedding prep meeting at The Works. Yumm!!

Kirsten and Shadi’s wedding day was beautiful. Everyone could feel the love in the air at Vincent Massey Park as Shadi watched, tears in his eyes (even if he denies it!!), as his beautiful bride walked down the leaf-strewn aisle. They held hands as their family and friends watched. Not even a sprinkling of rain could dampen their spirits.

One of my favourite moments of the day was the first kiss. As Kirsten and Shadi sealed their vows, the sun emerged and a gorgeous warm light streamed through. It was as close to magical as it gets, I think. It was also all I could do to not exclaim “yes, yes, YES!” behind my camera because I knew the photos were going to be stunning.

I just love photographing these two, and their bridal party was just the same. We hung out under some trees at Hog’s Back Park while the rain was a bit heavier and they relaxed and had a great time. I can’t say enough about how laid back Kirsten and Shadi were about the weather. All that mattered was they were together and no amount of rain could change that.

After the portraits, we headed to Eggspectations for a gorgeous reception and delicious dinner. Everyone had a great laugh at the shoe game and everyone celebrated Kirsten and Shadi together.

I had so much fun at this wedding and I must warn you, I had a terribly hard time narrowing photos down for this post. I’ll be honest, there are entirely TOO MANY, but I couldn’t help it. Some of these images are favourites I’ve ever taken.

Kirsten and Shadi put a lot of thought into the details of their wedding and it really showed.

Shadi wore really awesome red Pumas and they looked so good with Kirsten’s red pumps.

Shadi cannot deny that he got a bit emotional when there is a beautiful shot to prove it. You can just see the love in his eyes.

The aforementioned kiss shot. Love!

These shots are really special. Shadi’s grandmother could not attend the ceremony so right after, Kirsten, Shadi, Shadi’s mother and I went to visit her. She was so happy and kept saying how beautiful they looked. I will admit, I teared up. So sweet.

Now I never do this, but this shot is such a favourite that I made an exception and put a portrait oriented photo by itself.

I love this shot because you can see the drops of rain dancing around them. These two made rain look goooooood.
