FAQ
- What does elizabeth&jane mean?
elizabeth&jane is the photography of Liz and Jane, sisters and friends. Liz works out of Ottawa while Jane is based in Kingston and Toronto.
- Do you take pictures of people as well as dogs?
We love photographing both four legged and two legged creatures! Our session packages can be applied to people and pets.
- Why hire a professional photographer?
-
This is a common question for a lot of people. Nowadays with the availability of digital cameras and access to educational information, anyone can call themselves a photographer and we think that’s great. Professional photographers differ from a general camera user because we have taken great pride and dedication to learning and evolving as photographers. We look for creative angles and ways to capture moments so that you and your family will be able to enjoy those moments for years to come.
Professional photographers also take great care in editing and processing photographs after they are captured. There is a lot that goes into every photograph before they are ready to be printed, or even shown to you.
When you hire a photographer, you are not only paying for the photographer’s time to be at your session, but the time required afterwards to edit your photos. For every hour spent taking photos, there is usually about two-four hours of editing. This is something that technology has made available to us and it is something that Liz absolutely adores.
- What do you mean by professional editing and retouching?
Liz is a professionally trained graphic designer and is a whiz at Photoshop. This means that even if you had a little blemish on the day of the shoot, no one will ever know because we’ll make it disappear! Same goes for if your dog or cat has tear stains. We also take the time to edit and colour correct each photo so that it looks the best it can possibly look.
- What is your availability?
-
Liz is gearing up for the 2010 Wedding season - contact us now to book your wedding!
Currently, Jane is not accepting new clients, but that doesn’t mean that if you live in Toronto that you’ll be left out! Liz often travels to Toronto and is available to book sessions there too!
- Will you travel for a session?
We love to travel. Depending on how far you are from Ottawa/Toronto, we will either draw up a per km price or a set fee. Send us more details and we’ll draw up a quote for you.
- Can I customize a package?
Of course! Send an email detailing what kind of session you are looking for and we will be more than happy to draw up a custom quote for you.
- How do I book a session?
Booking a session is easy! Just send Liz an email or a call to arrange a date and time that works for both of us.
- What happens if it rains?
If it is raining on the scheduled day, we will reschedule the session for another day. Same goes for if it begins raining while we are in the middle of shooting. As for events that cannot be moved, such as weddings, we will deal with the rain as best we can. We have many brightly coloured umbrellas that look great in photos!
- How long after the session will it take before I can see the photos from my session?
Depending on how busy we are and the amount of photos taken at your session or event, it will be anywhere from 1 week to 3 weeks.
- Can I request photos in black and white, colour or vintage looking?
Of course! We will process the photos to look their best to us, but if you prefer a certain photo in another way, just let us know and we will provide you with a proof in that manner. Sometimes, we won’t be able to decide and you’ll end up with more than one proof anyways!
- Do you do event photography?
-
We do! From birthday parties to, red carpet events, we’re happy to come and take some photographs. Event pricing starts at $350 you will receive special print pricing for your event only.
If you are hosting a charity event, the pricing is radically different—please contact us to talk about your event.
- Do you take studio portraits?
Generally, no. Studio sessions are usually reserved for canine charity events and usually take place at Bark and Fitz in Westboro or Kanata. Past studio events have included Dogs in the Holiday Spirit, Love That Dog Valentine’s Shoot and Bad Dog Mug Shots.
- I am interested in pet photography, but my dog/cat is very nervous, would you still be able to photograph them?
Liz loves photographing animals and has the required patience to work with your pet to ensure they are comfortable before even bringing the camera out. Please let us know in advance if your pet is nervous and we will come up with a plan together to make them as relaxed as possible. Liz always works with you, the owner, so that your pet will always have a familiar family member present during the shoot.
- My dog/cat is black and doesn’t take good photos.
This is not a problem. Liz has shot many black and dark coloured animals and knows many tricks during and after the shoot to make your pet stand out and look fantastic.
- I am getting married and am interested in wedding photography, but I only see one package—do you have more extensive wedding coverage?
Firstly we must say: congratulations on your engagement! We have several wedding packages available and we can also sit down to arrange a custom quote. Please send us an email and we can speak further about your specific vision.
- Can I have input into the style and poses of my session?
Of course! We want your input and before the session even starts will ask you many questions about ideas you have and want to incorporate into your session. If you have an idea of a special theme that’s great! After all, these are your photos and we want you to absolutely love the final product.
