Baby Wesley
Posted on Mar 25, 2010 at 12:32 pm by Liz · 5 CommentsI posted a little teaser image from Wesley’s session a few days after the shoot. Mom has been very patiently waiting the rest of the photos as I caught a silly cold which kept coming back and rendered me useless. I am happy to say that I think it’s finally gone now!
Wesley is pretty much one of the cutest babies I’ve ever met. After I arrived, Mom and I cleared the kitchen table, stripped him down to his diaper and plunked him in his Bumbo chair…on the kitchen table. If you haven’t discovered the joys of the Bumbo chair, you need to check them out. They are fantastic!! Wesley can’t quite sit on his own yet, being only 5 months old, but with the Bumbo chair there is no need to worry. It’s made of foam too so it’s nice and comfy.
Once he was in his seat, we tried endlessly to get his attention…and failed. He was very interested in a gift bag that was sitting on the counter and wouldn’t look away from it. So we used the gift bag and it worked like a charm! Picture me with the camera in one hand, holding the gift bag above my head (I sure hope I didn’t break the present inside of it!).
We took a few naked shots as well as had wardrobe change and got some photos with his big (furry) sister, Belle. Belle loves Wesley and is constantly giving him lots of love and kisses. They are quite the pair to see together.
Tara and Sean, thank you for waiting patiently for your photos…and here they are!

Mom calls this one the Jean Chretien face ![]()

Of course I had to take a few photos of the ‘fur’st child of the family, Belle.

This is the last frame I shot. I was getting ready to pack up and leave and this wonderful family moment was unfolding in front of me. There is something so beautiful about this shot that I just love.

For the photographers in the room – the first few shots look quite a bit like studio shots and I assure you they aren’t, but I think they turned out great! Wesley was sitting on the kitchen table in front of a blank wall with a huge wonderful window flooding some great light in front. I actually kind of broke their curtain rod trying to open the curtains to let the light in – oops!

What I am Listening to…to write things and concentrate
Posted on Mar 24, 2010 at 1:00 pm by Liz · No CommentsI grew up with a musician. My mother is a wonderful piano player and studied music all her life. She taught music to children growing up and then became a music teacher in middle school. I was always surrounded by beautiful piano music every day and was very lucky for it. It relaxes and calms me and helps me to focus.
So now fast forward to today when I no longer live in the same house as a piano, I relax by listening to musicians who play the piano. My favourite artist to write to is Yiruma. I discovered him through YouTube and I don’t remember how, but I know it was this video that I stumbled upon and fell in love with his genius.
After replaying this song over and over on YouTube I knew I had to have his albums so I downloaded quite a few of his albums and they are quite often the songs I listen to when I write or if I need to concentrate. I have written before about how much I love a good tune to groove to, but when I need to form words I need songs without them or I end up writing out the words from the song into whatever I am attempting to write. Not very good when you’re trying to sound professional but instead write something about “getting down like the economy” (listen for it – you’ll hear it and laugh a lot!).
I am currently listening to Yiruma to write this very post and I hope you enjoy his music as well!

These are available on the amazing Etsy. LOVE Etsy!!
Just a note – I did not take these photos, they are from the Paloma’s Nest website and Etsy page.

Jacquie and James are getting married!
Posted on Mar 18, 2010 at 2:00 pm by Liz · No CommentsJacquie called me in December inquiring about a session for her two beloved dogs, Buck and Earl. We talked on the phone and decided the best time would be in January, when there was lots of snow on the ground and it was a perfect winter wonderland.
Then something wonderful happened. Over the Christmas holidays, the love of Jacquie’s life, James, proposed!! So our dog shoot then turned into a dog + engagement shoot. I was super excited. As our shoot date approached, I looked at the weather forecast and it wasn’t looking good. It was a winter wonderland alright, but a frigid, cold, freeze your fingers off winter wonderland. Not good. We decided to postpone until the middle of February and boy am I glad we did – our new shoot day was just perfect. Still very wintery but with a comfortable high of -1 degree.
First we walked around and took some great shots of the furkids and then we took some engagement shots. We had such a wonderful time and ended up having so much fun that Jacquie was late leaving for an dress fitting and I was almost late for my next shoot – oops!
Sometimes you can really tell when two people are perfect for each other and I really saw this with Jacquie and James. They fit together and support each other in such a beautiful way. James’ laid back character lends perfectly to Jacquie’s go-getter personality and they end up balancing each other out much the same way that Thomas balances me (I would be the go-getter one in this analogy – he thinks I “go-get” a little too much!!). I am so happy for both Jacquie and James and I know that they are going to have such a wonderful life together.

Thank you both for inviting me to capture your love!!

Two Beautiful Old Souls: Buck and Earl
Posted on Mar 17, 2010 at 6:00 pm by Liz · 4 CommentsI had such a fun wintery session with two amazing old souls: Buck and Earl. They are both 12 years young and are chalk full of personality! Buck is large for a boxer, but he doesn’t let that stop him. He’s been the apple of his Mom’s eye ever since he came into her life at 8 weeks old. Earl is a dignified Boston Terrier who lets everyone know who is boss (him obviously!). These two keep their adoring humans on their toes, but also know how to have a good snuggle.
Buck and Earl are the best of friends and have such an incredible bond with both of their humans and I wanted to capture as many moments and memories as I could. There are far too many photos to choose from, but I did my best.
And now let us get to the stars of this post…
First up: Buck

…And next: Earl

Despite their age, Buck and Earl can still play like no other dogs! During our session they had a great time running and playing in the snow.

I had to grab this shot before we went out to play just because I loved how both of them are sitting the exact same way!!

Have a wonderful day,
